      My name is Gene Garris,

    I was raised right here in New Bern, NC. My father was also a painter and starting teaching me the trade by having me work with him on painting the Tryon Palace. I  began my adult career working as a structural steel spray painter with Brown and Root out of Texas at PCS located in Aurora, NC. From there I went to work at Hatteras Yachts helping in construction of the plant while being their only painter. As the plant grew, I was promoted to Foreman and then became the Painting Superintendent with 37 employees in my department.

    In 1969 I left Hatteras Yachts to start my own company, Gene Garris Painting and have been serving the Tri County area surrounding New Bern ever since. We specialize in all types of painting, whether it be new construction, existing homes, residential or commercial. We do drywall repair, acoustic ceiling spray and repair, cabinet staining and painting, as well as refinishing older cabinets. We also specialize in interior and exterior mildew removal, roof cleaning and painting, minor carpentry work, pressure washing drive ways etc.
